Andersonville Antiques

As per last week’s Apartment of the Week, Andersonville has quickly become one of the North Side’s most popular neighborhoods. Along N Clark St. you’ll find many shops, restaurants and the popular craft brew Hopleaf. Don’t be surprised by the great deals you might see at the numerous antique shops around the neighborhood. Who doesn’t love a bargain?!!? For those that love being thrifty, here’s a short list of shops to hit up in Andersonville.

1. Brown Elephant

Location: 5404 N Clark St

This place is the jackpot of all thrift stores!! They have it all from furniture, clothing, movies, books, records and the list goes on. If you recently moved and you don’t have a lot of items to fill your space, this is a great one stop shop. The best part about this company is that the revenue generated by donations and purchases at the Brown Elephant Shops helps fund services for the more than 50% of Howard Brown clients who are under- or uninsured. Are you guilty of pinning a ton of things on Pinterest but never actually following through with them? At the Brown Elephant you could find the perfect piece for your next DIY project!

Here’s what I got for just around 30 dollars.

 2. Andersonville Antiques

If you’re looking for something unique, this is the place for you! This place is full of one of kind artwork, antiques, jewelry, collectibles and more. Your next conversation piece could be a vintage typewriter or camera. The lower level of the store is a collectors dream!

3. Coffee Studio

Location: 5628 N Clark St

I know, this isn’t an antique store. Shopping can take a lot of energy and you might need that extra boost of caffeine. The Coffee Studio is an espresso bar within Andersonville that serves a variety of beverages & snacks. This is a great place to take a break from all that bargain hunting. This is a great opportunity to try something new, something other than Starbucks.

4. Ya Ya’s

Location: 5517 N Clark St

If you’re looking for a frame for that next DIY project, this is the place for you! Other than picture frames, the place is stacked with furniture, dishes, artwork, jewelry, lamps and more. I feel like these vintage pieces add more character than the average department store item.

5. Brownstone Antiques

Location: 5234 N Clark St

This is what they would call a digger’s paradise. If you take the time to look through stuff, you might be amazed by what you will find. This store is going to make you work for that bargain, but it’ll be worth it. The store has estate items arriving every day. The list could really go on what you can find here. Some items include dishes, furniture, books, lamps……….

There’s more bargains to find in Andersonville other than these few shops. You might as well make a day of it, there’s plenty of great restaurants to try too!

There’s uniqueness in each Chicago neighborhood, so get out and explore!
